The work was created by John Bettridge of Birmingham, England in 1824.
This vinaigrette is from the English Regency era, when vinaigrettes were all the rage.
It is designed to resemble a thick book, with delicate carvings of small flowers around the edges.
The name of the first owner is engraved in the center of the top cover.
The interior decoration is beautiful, the gold plating is well preserved, and it is in good condition.
