This is a key-wound pocket watch with a pure silver case made in 1888.
There was no manufacturer's marking on the machine, so no further details were available. Britain in the 19th century was known as the world's factory, and there were many now-defunct watchmakers like this one.
The mainspring is key wound, and the time is set by inserting a key directly into the center of the hands and turning it.
This is a fairly large and heavy pocket watch, measuring 56mm in diameter and weighing 168g.
It is unknown if it has been overhauled, but the balance wheel is in good condition and ticks along smoothly.
