This is a size 18 Elgin pocket watch, manufactured in 1911, embodying the spirit of good old America.
The crisp Arabic numerals are in the "railroad watch" style used in the railway industry of the time, and the blued hands add a refined touch. Inside the robust "silveroid" case is a 15-jewel movement (Grade 317) engraved with delicate wavy damascene patterns and floral motifs. While there are repair marks and hairline cracks between the 7 and 8 o'clock positions on the dial, and minor scratches on the exterior due to age, its appearance faithfully tells a story of over a hundred years.
The overhaul history is unknown, but the balance wheel swings well, and it ticks vigorously.
