Dating to around the 1910s, this is an antique open-face pocket watch by Thomas Russell & Son, a prestigious Liverpool firm renowned as a supplier to the British royal household since the reign of Queen Victoria..
The dial and Swiss-made movement proudly bear the inscription “TEMPUS FUGIT,” Latin for “Time Flies,” along with the trademark winged wheel.. Elegant blued-steel spade hands mark the time, while the side of the gold-filled case, made by the Illinois Watch Case Company of the United States, is lavishly adorned with flowing floral relief decoration..
The back cover and inside of the case show fine age-related scuffs and small scratches, but the movement is running well.A lovely piece that will not only elevate your style as a practical timepiece, but also make a wonderful companion on your desk as you enjoy the quiet passage of time.
