A vintage porcelain egg coddler by the renowned British maker Royal Worcester, decorated with charming little birds. An egg coddler is a piece of tableware rooted in traditional British breakfast culture: a raw egg with butter, herbs, or other ingredients is placed inside, the lid is closed, and the egg is gently cooked in a water bath until soft and creamy, then served straight from the vessel.
The glossy white porcelain body features delicately rendered birds in soft, gentle colors: one spreading its wings among pine branches, and a wren standing by the water. The smooth feel of heat-resistant fine porcelain is complemented by a functional yet elegant silver-tone metal screw-top lid with a ring for easy removal.
There is slight scuffing on the metal lid and a few tiny marks on the foot, but the inside of the porcelain and the decoration remain in very clean condition. Perfect for preparing an elegant weekend breakfast, it can also be used beautifully as a container for jam or condiments, or as a small box for treasured accessories.
