A charming porcelain paperweight depicting a Firecrest (Japanese Firecrest), made by Royal Crown Derby, a prestigious British pottery holding a Royal Warrant.
This rare model was made in 1999 exclusively for members of the pottery’s Collector’s Guild. Based on the traditional Imari style, which grew out of Europe’s Japonisme movement, the Firecrest’s distinctive vivid crown markings and finely detailed feathers reminiscent of conifer needles are elegantly rendered throughout in deep cobalt blue, green, and sumptuous 22-karat gold gilding. The base is fitted with a gold stopper, a mark of first-quality pieces.
The piece itself is in beautiful condition, with no visible wear to the gilding or chips, though the original box has creases and scuffs from storage. Simply placing it on a study desk or living room display shelf will bring British elegance and warmth to your space.
