A sterling silver money clip made around 2002 by Francis Howard Ltd, a silversmith in Birmingham, England.
It features a polished, plain body with a distinctive design known as a “feature hallmark,” in which the hallmark—the stamp certifying the silver’s purity, usually applied discreetly to the back—is deliberately displayed prominently on the front. At its center is a special portrait of Queen Elizabeth II commemorating the 50th anniversary of her accession to the throne (the Golden Jubilee), evoking the rich history of British silverware.
There are some light surface scuffs, small marks on the tip, and darkening on the inside, but the clip holds securely. In addition to adding a touch of sophistication to everyday transactions, it can also be used to hold important documents.
